Christmas, 2011. Just writing that, I get misty-eyed. 2011. It’s hard to believe, really. My husband and I were dating, for the second time, in 2001. Just 10 years ago. Now, in the blink of an eye, we’ve celebrated 11 Christmas holidays together, our wedding day, countless holidays, the births of our four children, the birthdays and celebrations of so many family members, and soon will ring in a new year together for the 11th time. Every celebration has been filled with joy, hope and promise of the future. But, I can honestly say that this Christmas with a 17 month old baby boy who adores his family and is so full of joy, a 3 year old girl who lit up with the Christmas lights and loved every moment, a five year old who never forgets anything and was so overjoyed that he received more than one present, and a six year old who also only asked for one gift and gets so excited when he hears a favorite Christmas Carol…it has been the best Christmas ever, so far! Christmas through the eyes of young children is really Christmas. They remind me to be happy and not worry about the little stuff. To slow down and enjoy these precious, fleeting moments. They remind me to think about the Christ child. Our Lord as a baby over 2000 years ago. It’s hard for me to imagine what that must have been like. Amazing, really. Truly amazing. My children remind me of what Christmas is. Merry Christmas, friends! Enjoy a glimpse of our Christmas morning at home….
