Hey Moms (and Dads) of Littles.
“Its tie-ime” 🎵. If you did not just hear Mariah Carey singing in your head, you’ve spent less time on social media than me.
If you have preschoolers to elementary school-aged kids, you’ve heard of the Elf on a Shelf books and concept of Santa sending one of his elves to come and hang out in your house and keep an eye on things for him. We’ve never really gotten into that. And, truthfully, I don’t think my big kids ever really believed that a little elf doll comes to life and flies back and forth to the North Pole every night to report to Santa. But, most of their classrooms had elves in the classroom and we felt like they would be left out without an elf at home.
We decided to get an elf and join in the fun. Fun is a funny word, isn’t it? It wasn’t fun at all. I ran out of ideas quickly and got tired of moving the elf each night. I often forgot to move him and blamed it on “somebody must have touched him.” Insert: an elf kit to take away all of the anxiety around having an elf and actually make it FUN!

My kids really get into finding the elf every morning to see what kind of fun or mischief he had gotten into overnight. For the last few years, I have used a pre-purchased kit of elf scenes to make the set up easy every night. This year, I have a new kit and I’m excited to try it out and tell you all about it.
First of all, the Elf Kit was created to by momma, Rebecca Bell. Rebecca runs a small family-owned Christmas business called Your Best Elf, that specializes in unique Elf on the Shelf kits. The sole purpose of the kit, is to make the art of “moving the elf” every night, fun and easy for moms (and dads) and she’s accomplished that goal perfectly.
The box is unmarked on the outside. It’s just a white box with a red painted on ribbon- no indication to my little one that there are elf scenes inside. I love this. Because, having the scenes be a surprise each day is part of the fun.
Inside the box are quick daily instructions on a single card, front and back. Each scene has a corresponding number and is in its own clear packaging. The instruction card also has a QR code, which teaches you how to set everything up. This is so super easy and fun. I can’t wait to start. There are 24 scenes and 3 bonus scenes. This year’s theme is full of surprises like a pickleball set, a basketball game, and a custom-embroidered kids’ apron with a matching chef hat—perfect for holiday baking. She’s also designed unique elf outfits that you can’t find in stores or anywhere else.
We received the special Elf on the Shelf Kit which will be available at The Nutcracker Market this weekend. Your Best Elf is excited to be a first-time vendor at the Houston Nutcracker Market with a very special themed elf kit. We absolutely love it and have been sworn to secrecy on some of the TEXAS themed surprises! Yeehaw!
The thoughtful design and quality of the kits truly stand out from other similar kits on the market. Rebecca is a speech pathologist, and has incorporated games and activities that not only bring holiday fun but also support childhood development. Unlike many kits filled with basic cardstock items, these kits come in a large 14×10” box packed with 24 days (plus 3 bonus days!) of crafts, games, and playful mischief, all tied together with witty messages to keep the excitement alive.
The Elf of the Shelf kit also includes a QR code that offers more than just instructions—it provides creative ideas for using household items to enhance the experience and a detailed plan for parents to easily follow. Plus, our guide features additional screen-free activities that build fine motor and social skills, extending the fun all season long.
